Jaws

Jaws

You're gonna need a bigger boat...

The film that defined the summer blockbuster, Jaws is an excellent film for all the right reasons. Spielberg had little to work with and even less when production started, but that didn’t stop him from making one of the most iconic films of all time.

The acting is superb, especially from Robert Shaw and his now famous and beloved Indianapolis speech. The production was rather troubled, but the crew famously used this to their advantage by showing the shark as little as possible, thus upping the dramatic tension in every scene. And that’s what the film is really about, what makes it rather than break it: the tension.

This film is a masterwork of tension and thrills, and if you haven’t seen it, you really should. The summer film season would not be what it is today if it were not for this film. Is that a good thing or a bad thing, well… :)
