The Killers is a fine example of film noir without being too overly film noirish, though it does definitely have its moments. Nice cinematography, the chiaroscuro immediately puts you in a crime/film noir mood. The film delves into a nonlinear flashback narrative, and it’s quite engaging in a Rashomon kind of way. The script is richly noir, and enjoys indulging itself in the mystery of its plot.
Overall, an excellent escapism film to sit through; not personally sure why it’s on a “Must See Before You Die” list, but it’s not a bad film to spend an evening on.
